About Us

First Baptist Church, Devine is a Christian Church that is of the Baptist tradition.

FBC is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention for worldwide missions, the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT), and the Frio River Baptist Association.

FBC uses only the Bible for faith and practice. We practice believers' baptism and observe the Lord's Supper as a symbolic remembrance of Christs' redemptive work on the cross, affirming that salvation comes by grace through faith.

Our only foundation is Jesus Christ, who is Messiah and Savior of the world. We are alert and awaiting eagerly His second coming. We believe He first came as the "Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world" and in His second coming He is coming as Judge.

We were founded in 1882 in the same location that we are presently in. We have around 1000 members and we have about 270 people every Sunday in worship attendance.

Our Church Mission Statement:

We exist for worship, evangelism/missions, discipleship and ministry in obedience to the commission of Christ.

Our Church verse:

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I am come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)
